Custom module development

Off-the-shelf modules do not always do what your operation runs on. We build the one that does.

Custom logic, a bespoke checkout step, an admin screen or automation. Built to PrestaShop standards, so the next upgrade does not take it away.

Why not in the theme

Custom features belong in a module. Whatever goes into the theme or an override disappears with the next upgrade.

Code written into the theme

Logic written into templates is lost when the theme changes or the shop is upgraded, and cannot move to another webshop.

Overrides fighting each other

Two overrides on the same class run in an unpredictable order. In a module that problem does not exist.

An untraceable solution

Without documentation the next developer rewrites it. A module gets a description, a settings screen and a version.

What we do

How development runs.

Requirements

We go through what it has to do, where it appears, and who will use it.

Specification

A written specification with screens and edge cases. Price and deadline come from it.

Development

The module follows PrestaShop standards: hooks, a settings screen, translatable strings.

Testing

The feature is tried on a copy of your webshop, with real data.

Documentation

A description of what it does, how to set it up, and what to know at upgrade time.

Support

After release we keep fixing it and adapting it to new PrestaShop versions.

How it works

From specification to go live.

1

Scope and price

We discuss the requirement and write a specification. Price and deadline follow from it.

2

Development

The module is built and tried on a copy of your webshop.

3

Go live

We install it on the live webshop, configure it and hand it over with the documentation.

Frequent questions

What people ask before custom work.

What does it cost?
We give a fixed price from the specification. Without a specification it would only be a guess, and we do not give those.
Who owns the module?
You do. You receive the source code and can use it on your webshop without restriction.
Will the next PrestaShop upgrade remove it?
No. That is exactly why it is built as a module instead of theme code.
How long does it take?
We give a deadline after the specification. A medium feature is usually one to two weeks.
Can we start with a smaller version?
Yes. It is often worth starting with the essential part and extending it after real use.
